Jafri Kuthubutheen Australia

Professor Jafri Kuthubutheen is a Hearing Implant, Otology and Skull Base Surgeon based in Perth, Western Australia. He is a Clinical Professor at the University of Western Australia and the director of the Otology and Skull Base Surgery Fellowship program at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He is also the medical lead for the Statewide Children's Hearing Implant Program and the Clinical Lead for the WA Country Health Services ENT program. He has a sub-specialist qualification Otology, Hearing and Skull Base Surgery from the University of Toronto and obtained his PhD from the University of Western Australia in the field of cochlear implantation. He has published 94 papers in peer reviewed scientific journals, presented over 50 papers at national and international conferences, and conducted over 15 surgical workshops. His research interests are in the field of hearing loss, cochlear implantation, chronic ear disease, and skull base surgery. He has been a regular invited faculty member to teach ENT surgeons from the Asia Pacific Region on the latest surgical techniques. Professor Kuthubutheen is an editorial board member of the Australia Journal of Otolaryngology and was the Scientific Convener for the 2024 Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Annual Scientific Congress.
