Dr. Chuan-Jen Hsu graduated from National Taiwan University, School of Medicine in 1976. He began his residency at Department of Otolaryngology, National Taiwan University Hospital in 1978 and finished in 1982. After residency, he moved to Japan and got Doctor degree of Medical Science Tokyo University in 1984. Dr. Hsu returned to serve as an attending staff at Department of Otolaryngology, National Taiwan University Hospital and Assistant Professor, Faculty of Medicine, National Taiwan University in the same year. In 1988-1989, he spent 2 years as research fellow at Department of Otolaryngology, Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary / Harvard Medical School, Boston. Dr. Hsu was promoted to Professor, Faculty of Medicine, National Taiwan University in 2002 and became the chairman of Department of Otolaryngology, National Taiwan University Hospital in 2005. Dr. Hsu step down as the chairman in 2011 and retired from National Taiwan University in 2014. After retirement from National Taiwan University, he continued his medical career at Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital. Now, Dr. Hsu serves as Vice-superintendent, Taichung Tzu Chi Hospital, Clinical Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Tzu Chi University and Adjunct Professor, Faculty of Medicine, National Taiwan University. His major research interests include Cochlear Implant, Genetics of hearing loss and Noise-induced hearing loss.
