Dr. Hinrich Staecker a Professor in the University of Kansas Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. His research goals focus on developing treatment modalities for sensorineural hearing loss. Current clinical research projects are aimed at improving the treatment of sensorineural hearing loss using both molecular therapeutics and devices. These include evaluation the first in man clinical trial of gene therapy for hearing loss. PI initiated studies include evaluation of balance function in implant patients and the effect of cognitive decline on implant outcomes. Currently the main effort in the lab is focused on developing gene therapy and drug delivery for the treatment of inner ear disease.
